Pera Museum
Pera Museum was opened in 2005. The building was originally constructed in 1893 and immaculately restored. Kutahya tiles, Anatolian weights and measurements, and Oriental portraits and painting collections are the permanent exhibitions in the museum. One of the most famous paintings in the museum is of Osman Hamdi's "The Tortoise Trainer" (KaplumbagaTerbiyecisi in Turkish. In addition, three art galleries and an auditorium are among the facilities of the museum.

Modern Arts Museum
Modern Arts Museum which opened its doors in December 2004, is the first and only museum of its kind in Istanbul. It is housed in a renovated old docks warehouse in Karaköy (port) district facing Topkapi Palace, with a rich library, exhibitions, photograph gallery, sculpture courtyard, movie theater, cafe and souvenir shop.

Military Museum
Military Museum is at Harbiye, as short walk from Taksim, and chronicles mostly the Ottoman era of Sultans and conquest. TheMuseum is also where you can hear the Mehter, the world's oldest military band, play each afternoon (20-minute concerts begin at 3 and at 4 pm).
